الفصل 1: Why VEX AIM?

Lesson 3: Encouraging a Robot Growth Mindset

Learning computer science can be challenging, and students will undoubtedly encounter moments of frustration as they develop new CS skills and knowledge. Fortunately, it is possible to create a classroom environment in which student frustration is minimized and never reaches a point where students feel they are incapable of learning to code. The key is in helping students to embrace the problem-solving process inherent to learning computer science by building a “robot growth mindset”.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify the importance of helping students to develop a growth mindset when learning computer science.
  • Identify ways a growth mindset can support learning and persistence when coding with a robot.
  • Identify strategies for creating a classroom environment which fosters the development of a robot growth mindset.

Fostering a “Robot Growth Mindset”

Watch the video below to learn how to create a classroom environment that encourages computer science achievement by helping students to build a growth mindset around learning computer science with a robot. This video discusses:

  • The importance of fostering a growth mindset that allows students to learn from mistakes when teaching computer science.
  • Strategies for creating a classroom environment that helps students develop a robot growth mindset.
  • How computer science is an ideal subject for cultivating a growth mindset in general.
