Hello and welcome to the VEX classroom. My name is Audra, and in this video, we're going to talk about sharing projects with VEXcode VR Enhanced or Premium. Among the many benefits that you get with your VEXcode VR Enhanced or Premium license is the ability to share projects and organize student work really simply and easily within the VEXcode VR licensing system.
In this video, we're going to walk through the steps outlined in the article below to show you what you can expect to see as you're doing this for yourself. First, we will enter the VEXcode VR licensing system, configure our sharing preferences, set our preferences by class, and then show you what you will get when a student shares a project with you. So let's get started.
Here you can see I've already logged into the VEXcode VR licensing system by navigating to vradmin.vex.com and logging in. Now, when I go to the sharing settings, you can see that there are a few different options. We can configure the sharing preferences to either have students' work automatically go to our Google Drive or our Dropbox. In this case, I've already enabled both my Google Drive and my Dropbox. You can do one of these, both of these, or neither of these, depending on your preference.
By enabling and authorizing either of these accounts and connecting them with your VEXcode VR license, when students share their work with you, it will automatically appear in either the Google Drive or the Dropbox location that you've specified. This is one more step that's just made a little bit simpler with VEXcode VR Enhanced or Premium.
Now, how will my students' projects go directly there? Because I will enable that in my classes. Here in classes, you can see I've created two classes with two unique class codes, one for my period two students and one for my period four students. You can see here that I've already updated the delivery method for period four. To do that, I'll select this pencil. Here is the same place where I made the class name. Now I can select either Google Drive, Dropbox, or local download. Local download means that your students' projects will be shared directly to the devices they are using at that time.
By enabling Google Drive, I'm taking one step away from what my students have to do to share their projects, and they can share them, and they will directly come to me. I can select Google Drive, save the changes, and now I can see that the delivery method is updated. Period two's projects are going to go to my Google Drive, and period four's projects are going to share to my Dropbox.
Now, anytime a student logs in with the period two class code or the period four class code, their projects will be shared with me the way that I have set them up and the way that my preferences align. Let's see what a project actually looks like when it's shared.
Now here we are in VEXcode VR. My students have logged in with their class code. We can see here, this is period four, there's their class code. They've created a project to complete the "Where in the World" activity. When they run the project and stop the project when it is complete, we can see what it looks like on the Art Canvas+ or on whatever playground they are using.
When students select share, they can enter their name, tell me what the project is, and write some notes. They might say, "This is the level one solution, I'm working on level two next," or whatever. You'll see a few different options: a download option or a share option. If students select download, this project will be automatically downloaded to the device they are using.
Thank you for watching this video on sharing projects with VEXcode VR Enhanced or Premium. We hope this helps you streamline your classroom experience. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Happy coding!
If they select share, this project will be shared with the teacher in the preference that was set up via the class code, so it will automatically be shared in this case to my Dropbox, because that's what I set up for period four.
So within a few moments, we'll get a prompt that says success, our project was successfully shared.
So what will you see when you open up those projects in your Google Drive or your Dropbox? I have one here that's downloaded, here's the PDF.
So I can see, here the student name, I just put in my own, we can see the assignment, we can see any notes that our students have left us, the playground. We have our project still in PDF form here, but more importantly, we have a snapshot of the playground at the moment that the project was stopped, which shows us the position of the robot, which shows us the path the robot has taken, and we can quickly and easily see whether or not our students completed the goal of the task or the goal of the activity, without having to read their code or run every single one of their projects to see how it works.
So the idea here was really to make sharing of projects a simple, easy, effective solution for you, the teacher, to be able to use students' work as documentation, as assessment, as formative assessment, to make your usage of VEXcode VR that much better.
I hope that this video has helped you. Again, you can return to this article at any time to view any of these steps, or to find more information about sharing projects with VEXcode VR Enhanced or Premium, and I hope you have a great time coding with your students.
